Nedcargo Insights

“You were right, but it was very direct!” Laughing, Kirsten confronts her father Koes the way in which the collaboration between RCN and Nedcargo came about. Koes is Koes the Quillettes, the 62-year-old founder of RCN. Kirsten is now together with her brother Robbert part of the management. Koes and Jurgen Mook, CEO of Nedcargo, look back together first meeting. “When Jurgen was still COO, around 8 years ago, I went to the company called.”

Koes drove past the building on the A12 every day with the text Wasteless Supply Chain on it. “I told Jurgen that you can only make such a claim if you work with RCN. Jurgen liked that approach and I was allowed to come by and explain it.” In retrospect, it was a good choice for both parties, because RCN has now become an indispensable partner of Nedcargo.

Sustainability
“We take over the waste processing process. From checking permits and certificates to drawing up guidance letters. We ensure compliance,” says Kirsten. “But we prefer to go one step further and work as a partner. For example, Nedcargo has drawn up a sustainability agenda and because we manage the residual and waste flows, we can support each customer by sharing information about their waste flows as efficiently as possible. Nedcargo can then process this information in reports.”

Personal
Koes agrees: “This is exactly what we want at RCN. When our customers - especially distribution centers and production companies - have a challenge related to waste, they call us. And then they don't have to go through a cross-examination to get to the right person, but they immediately get Kirsten or me on the phone. We will then ensure that it is resolved.”

Trots
Robbert, who was unable to attend because he was allowed to give a presentation on the commercial benefits of good waste processing, also joined. “If I can say anything, it is that I am very proud that, as a family business, we have been able to work for Nedcargo for 8 years. And all because of those letters on that building. That old man was right!”
