Green Marketing: Truly Sustainable Communication
In our last blog post we discussed greenwashing, the phenomenon where companies pretend to be greener than they actually are. Consciously or unconsciously. But what if your company is actually committed to sustainability? We also have a term for that: green marketing.
What is Green Marketing?
Green Marketing, also called sustainable or eco-marketing, is a strategy in which companies communicate their environmentally friendly practices and ecological responsibility to their (potential) customers or clients. This form of marketing goes beyond just promoting sustainable products; it also includes how companies adapt their internal processes to reduce their environmental footprint.
Why Green Marketing?
Companies involved in Green Marketing strive to keep their ecological footprint low and act environmentally friendly. This not only has a positive impact on their image, but also contributes to a better world. Green Marketing focuses on creating value for the company, society and the environment, rather than just making profit. For example, they use recycled or biodegradable materials in products or create campaigns that make consumers aware of their ecological footprint.
How do you apply Green Marketing within your company?
The most important advice we can give you is that sustainability should be anchored at the core of your business. We believe that awareness is the basis for the transformation towards a more sustainable corporate culture. If you really want to know how sustainable you are, have it examined by an expert. At RCN we offer the 'RCN Quick Scan', which gives us insight into the residual and waste policy within a company. We then determine the optimal policy together and provide support in its implementation. Every small step counts, simple changes can have a big impact. Consider organizing vegan lunches, separating waste in the office or – a slightly bigger step – entering into sustainable collaboration with suppliers.
Show the audience what steps you are taking as a company to become greener, what you really value as a company. No big talk, no 'green boost', but a story in which one can actually become acquainted with the sustainability steps and plans of an organization or company.
Have you already taken steps to integrate green marketing into your company? Share your experiences and let's inspire each other! Green marketing is not only good for your business, but also for the planet. By working together towards a more sustainable future, we can make a positive impact.
